Danny O'Dwyer

Mortgage Adviser

I began my career in financial services in 2017 as a life insurance broker, before qualifying as a CeMAP Mortgage Adviser in 2018. Since then I’ve built my experience across the mortgage and protection market, helping clients across Bognor Regis, Chichester, and the wider West Sussex area, and developing a strong understanding of lender criteria and underwriting. At home, I’m a proud dad to four energetic kids who keep family life busy and brilliant in equal measure. Joining the YesCanDo Money team felt like the right next step, working alongside people who put clients first.

Outside of work, family comes first for me. I’m a proud dad to four energetic children who keep me busy from morning until night, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of my free time is spent making memories with my family. When I do get the chance to enjoy some time to myself, you’ll usually find me on the golf course. It’s the perfect way to switch off, recharge and come back refreshed, ready to help my clients with their mortgage journey.

Questions & Answers

I started out in life insurance back in 2017 and quickly realised I wanted to do more on the mortgage side. Helping people through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives felt like the right place to put my time and energy. Once I qualified through CeMAP in 2018, I never looked back.

The moment a client gets their offer through, especially after a tricky case, is hard to beat. I get a real lift out of finding solutions for people who’ve been told no elsewhere, or helping someone get onto the ladder when they thought it wasn’t possible. Building long-term relationships with clients who come back to me for their next move or remortgage is also a big part of what makes the job worthwhile.

I keep things straightforward from the first conversation. I’ll listen to what someone’s trying to achieve, ask the right questions, and explain the options in plain English. There’s no rush and no pressure. My job is to make sure clients feel confident in the decisions they’re making, and that means giving them the time and information they need.

Years of working across the whole of market means I’ve seen a wide variety of cases, from straightforward first-time buyer applications through to more complex investor and self-employed scenarios. I know lender criteria inside out, which often makes the difference between a yes and a no. More than anything though, I treat every client like I’d want to be treated myself. Honest, clear, and always available when they need me.

Case Study 1

Helping a Self-Employed Buyer Get Approved

A self-employed client came to me after being declined by his own bank. He’d only been trading for just under two years and was worried he wouldn’t qualify for the mortgage he needed. I went through his accounts in detail, matched him with a lender who understood his self-employed income situation, and got his application approved at a competitive rate. He moved into his new home a few months later and still gets in touch whenever he needs advice.
Case Study 2

Getting a First-Time Buyer Onto the Ladder

A young couple came to me feeling deflated after being told they couldn’t borrow enough to buy in the area they wanted. I took the time to review their full situation, looked at lenders who assessed affordability differently, and found one that could offer them the amount they needed. A few weeks later they had their offer accepted on a place they loved, and I stayed in touch right through to completion to keep things moving smoothly.
