Jessie Stevens

Mortgage Adviser

I’ve worked in financial services since 2017. Mortgages weren’t the original plan, but that changed when I bought my first home. The advice I got wasn’t great, and I remember thinking there had to be a better way to do this. I qualified as a mortgage adviser in 2019 and have been doing the job ever since. Four years in, I still enjoy it. Mostly because no two cases are the same, and you can actually see the difference good advice makes.

Professional Experience

Here’s a bit more about my background and how I’ve ended up doing the work I do today.

Current Role

I joined YesCanDo Money in early 2025 and it very quickly felt like the right place for me. The team is experienced, supportive and genuinely cares about doing things properly, which makes a huge difference. I love the culture here. There’s no pressure to rush cases or push products. Instead, we take the time to get things right and really look after our clients. Going the extra mile is the norm, and we’re always happy to help without charging for advice.
I work with first-time buyers, home movers and existing homeowners, and I genuinely enjoy being part of such an important moment in people’s lives. It’s completely normal for clients to feel unsure or overwhelmed at first, and that’s where I come in. I focus on bringing clarity, explaining what really matters and taking care of the details so the process feels straightforward and stress-free.

Previous Roles

Before joining YesCanDo Money, I worked as a Mortgage Adviser at Mortgage Matters Direct alongside estate agents, where I also spent a year specialising in remortgages, helping clients review their options and secure better deals.
Earlier in my career, I worked as an Administrator and later a Paraplanner at St. James’s Place Wealth Management. I also gained valuable experience working in the lettings industry.

A Final Word from Jessie

I try to make the mortgage process feel manageable and easy to understand. If someone finishes the process feeling informed, confident and less stressed than when they started, then I know I’ve done my job.

Jessie’s Personal Interests and Hobbies

Outside of work, I enjoy aerial arts, getting out for walks and catching up with friends. Life can be busy, so I value time spent switching off, staying active and making the most of my free time.

Questions & Answers

My journey into mortgages started with my own home purchase. After a poor experience with a broker I was referred to, I wanted to properly understand how mortgages work for myself. Once I started learning, I quickly realised this area of finance suited me far more than investments or pensions — it felt more hands-on, more meaningful, and much more real.

Helping first-time buyers is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Buying your first home comes with a lot of emotion, and being able to guide people through such a big moment is something I genuinely love. I also enjoy helping existing homeowners understand their options, especially when that clarity leads to real savings and better outcomes.

I keep things simple and relaxed. I explain everything as we go, encourage questions, and make sure nothing feels rushed or overcomplicated. There’s no need to sound clever — what matters is that everything makes sense and clients feel confident every step of the way.

I’ve worked across different areas of financial services and property, which means I understand how all the pieces fit together. More importantly, I know how stressful this process can feel at times, and that really shapes how I work with clients. I focus on being supportive, clear, and approachable, so people feel reassured and in control from start to finish.

Case Study 1

Helping a First-Time Buyer Feel Confident About Their Options

A first-time buyer came to me feeling unsure about how much they could borrow and worried about getting things wrong. We talked through their income and deposit and broke the process down step by step. What stood out to me was how relieved they were once everything made sense and they realised it wasn’t as daunting as they’d thought.
Case Study 2

Remortgaging to Cut Monthly Costs

A homeowner got in touch as their fixed rate was coming to an end and they were worried about slipping onto their lender’s standard variable rate. Timing was tight, so we moved quickly to review their options and secure a new deal before that happened. What really stood out to me was how relieved and grateful they were once everything was in place and they knew their new rate was sorted in good time.
