Ian Langford

Mortgage Adviser

I studied Financial Services at university while working at Nationwide Building Society, which laid the foundations for my career in financial advice. Finance has always been a real passion of mine, and helping people manage one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives just feels like the perfect fit. It’s something I’ve been doing since my time as a mortgage adviser at Mortgage Matters, before joining the YesCanDo Money team. At home, I’m a proud husband to Claire, who works as a fraud analytics manager at Nationwide, and dad to our energetic six-year-old son, Jack. Life is busy, but incredibly rewarding both at work and at home!

Questions & Answers

I’ve always had a passion for finance, and helping people with such an important part of their lives felt like a natural fit. I enjoy taking on the responsibility that comes with the mortgage process — it means my clients can focus on their families and future, while I handle the detail.

Seeing clients reach the point where they can collect the keys to their new home is incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s a first home or a fresh start, being part of that journey never gets old. I also really enjoy building strong relationships with new and existing clients — it’s a role that feels personal and meaningful, and I’m proud to be someone they can rely on during such a big life step.

I like to make things as simple and stress-free as possible from the very start. I take time to understand each client’s situation, explain everything clearly, and make sure they feel confident every step of the way. It’s about creating a comfortable and open experience where no question is too small.

With over a decade of experience and a genuine passion for helping people, I focus on building strong, lasting relationships — not just ticking boxes. I work in a way that’s personal, calm, and tailored to each client. I want them to feel supported, understood, and never rushed.

Case Study 1

First-Time Buyer Success

I recently helped a young couple secure their first mortgage after they’d been turned away elsewhere. They were overwhelmed by the process, so I broke everything down step-by-step and found a lender that suited their situation. Seeing them collect the keys to their first home] and knowing I helped make that happen was incredibly rewarding.
Case Study 2

Stress-Free Home Move

A family came to me needing to upsize before their second baby arrived. They were stressed and short on time, so I handled everything from reviewing their affordability to arranging a new mortgage and protection cover. By staying in regular contact and keeping the process simple, I made sure they could focus on preparing for their new arrival rather than all the admin and paperwork.
